Hello, as you might have guessed, or maybe you didn't, I'm new to this forum. Last year I started to become engrossed in Japanese cinema and stumbled upon AALC on imdb. I must admit, after seeing the score it had (7.5?) I didn't have high expectations for it. But after the first few minutes I was completely entranced. I loved the storyline and the soundtrack was awesome. Everything about the film was so real and natural, compared to the hackneyed drivel you see so much in Hollywood films these days. Anyways, the point is, don't judge a book by its front cover. So yeah, that's me. Sayonara all.

Hi, I would have to agree with you point. You cant really know how a movie will be until you've watched it. I use to listen to peoples reviews and opinions of movies but saw the error of my ways. I'm really greatful that I've realised we are all different and if somebody gives a movie a score (like imdb) it means virtually nothing to me. Dont get me wrong, I like to read reviews and discussions on movies but I just wouldnt let the general consensus stop me from watching.
On the other hand, once I've watched a movie I love to compare notes and see what others got out of it. That is half the fun I guess.

Quoted for truth.

Hi nonchalant, I'm glad you agree Wink

And yeah, I try not to let movie reviews/scores sway my opinion of a film. I think that whole concept is really short-sighted.
